Users often ask how they can control exactly who they share a message, document, link or event with. Manymoon provides the ability to control exactly who you share with. Once you master this, communicating with your colleagues using Manymoon becomes as easy as posting to your Facebook wall.
There are two main ways to share something in Manymoon: From the Home screen, and within a project. Let's take a look at the project first.
Sharing from Within a Project
Projects in Manymoon are designed to be social. When you share something within a project, it is visible to every project member, except limited rights users.
To share from within a project, go to the project, click the "Activity" tab, and enter the message in the "Share something..." box.
You cannot remove project members from the share, but you can add others by clicking the "add" link next to the "Post" button.
Since you can't remove project members from the share, sharing within a project is not always the best tool if you want to control exactly who you share with.
For example, assume users A, B, and C are all full members of project Alpha. If user A wants to send a message to B, user C can see the message in the project Bulletin.
Now let's say A wants to communicate with B without C knowing about it. There are two options.
1) The project administrator can make user C a limited rights user (Please click here for more info.) Once this is done, only information explicitly shared with C by adding his email to the share or the task will be visible to C. If A assigns a task to B but does not add C explicitly, C will not see the task. The same goes for shared messages, documents, events etc.
The limitation of this is that now C has to remain a limited rights project member, which may not be acceptable. This leads us to the other option.
Sharing from the Home screen of Manymoon (not in any project)
You can share a message, document, link or event with anyone in your organization from your home screen. Simply click on "Home", click the "Activity" tab, and then type in the "Share Something..." box. If you want an email to go out to the share recipients, make sure you check the "Send email" box, (which only appears after you type something in the share).
To control who you share with, use the "Share with" drop down. You have the following choices in the resulting drop down menu
a) Everyone: Will share with all your connections. To see this list, go to connections->All Connections
b) My Organization: Will share with every connection in your organization (usually defined by your domain name). To see this list, go to connections->My Organization
c) Team: Will share with everyone on the chosen team, if you belong to a team.
d) Project: Will share with everyone on the chosen project.
e) Task: Will share with everyone associated with the chosen task
f) Individuals: shows a box and lets you enter emails yourself, or choose them from the address book.
